Mini Windows v3.1 - a PeepHole
What is it? Windows v3.1 on a floppy disk! Small INI and other configuration files plus batch files to automate building a bootable 1.44 meg floppy diskette that installs a working W31 onto a 2 meg ramdrive using either MSDOS v6.22 (or a compatible DOS clone) or W9x MSDOS v7.x or higher to read partitions larger than 2 gigabytes! PeepHole will boot and execute W31 on a machine that has NO hard drive!

What are the requirements? MSDOS v6.22 (or compatible OS) or W9x MSDOS v7.x or higher and a working install of Windows v3.1 (or even v3.0) installed on a C: hard drive partition to grab the required files and create the bootable PeepHole floppy disk. Hardware required is `386SX or better with at least 4 meg of installed ram and a mouse. Pkware's pkzip.exe and pkunzip.exe v2.04g, a blank 1.44 meg floppy, and about 10 minutes of your time. PeepHole on a 1.2 meg floppy is do-able (see HOWTO.DOC)

Is this difficult? If you, or a friend, have a working Windows v3.1 installed you've done the hard part. PeepHole diskette creation is automated with error-trapping to guide you through the process. It's not a `blind' install (your original install is not modified in any way) that you wait for and pray it's not erasing your hard drive. After 3 years of downloads of both the 16 bit and 32 bit versions of PeepHole I have received no (zero) reports of any difficulties using this software as of 11-13-2005.

Y2K for W31 If you haven't already patched W31 and filemanager with the free Y2K patch files from Microsoft's own FTP server you should download those patch files and install them before creating PeepHole. Just a thought?
